Preyas was born in Holland and has lived and traveled throughout the world. She now makes her home in the hills of Byron Bay, Australia where she has lived for the past 12 years. As well as creating her business she has raised over 7000 trees from seed to regenerate the rainforest that surrounds her. And in turn, this nature inspires her in her creation of her jewellery.
This jewellery is also a fusion of different worlds and cultures:
From Australia, with its ancient heritage and bright colour palette, Preyas sources Opals straight from the miners. These include Boulder Opals which express the colours of Australia's nature, from the browns and reds of the earth to the blues of the skies.
On her travels to Rajasthan in India, she finds gem stones from all over the world. The pink sandstone city of Jaipur had been famous for centuries for its skilled faceting of gemstones.
On Preyas' travels in the North of Thailand, she came in touch with the Hill Tribes near Chang Mai. Their beautiful jewellery, made with 95-98% pure silver, emanates a warm ethnic character and portrays the organic designs of butterflies, dragonflies and flowers.
Preyas combines the Hill Tribe silver with gemstone beads from around the world to create unique and beautiful jewellery. |
